Advocacy Priorities

Advocacy Priorities

We believe that everyone has the right to a safe, secure home in their community. However, for many people with intellectual disabilities or mental health needs, this is not yet a reality. Long waiting lists, limited housing supply, and gaps in support funding continue to prevent people from living independently.

Advocacy is an essential part of our work. We work alongside partners, service providers and national bodies to influence change — so that housing and support systems better meet the needs of the people we serve.

We are advocating for

1. More homes in the community

Increased housing provision so that people can move from congregated settings or the family home into homes of their own.

This includes:
  • Increased investment in specialist housing.
  • More flexible and innovative housing models.
  • A wider mix of housing options to support choice and independence.

We work with others to influence policy at national and local level, so that housing systems better reflect the needs and rights of people with disabilities.

Together we continue to advocate for:

  • Implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
  • Fair and inclusive housing policies.
  • Long-term planning to meet future housing demand.

The voices of tenants, families and carers are central to our advocacy work.

We are committed to:

  • Creating opportunities for tenants to share their experiences.
  • Ensuring their views inform our priorities.
  • Strengthening tenant engagement and participation.
