Christmas 2019

Our Annual Christmas Dinner and Carol Service was held in Gleann na hEorna on 17th December 2019 where over 100 tenants were invited to celebrate and where they had the opportunity to mingle with some members of the Housing Association’s Board of Directors and staff.

The Marie Lane Cancer Support Choir and Killinardan Community School sang beautiful Christmas Carols while the tenants listened to the carol singing and took part in the festivities while enjoying mugs of hot chocolate!

The celebrations then moved into the restaurant, where a delicious 4-course Christmas meal was served.

A Sincere Word of Thanks

For the past four years, the Christmas dinner has been donated by KC Peaches. The Housing Association wishes to extend a massive thank you to KC Peaches for its continued involvement in making the Annual Christmas Dinner such a success. We also want to thank three of the KC Peaches staff who donated their time to help serve the dinner. Without their continued support, the Annual Christmas Dinner would not be such an enormous success for our tenants. The celebrations ended with a lovely moment of remembrance.

Library in Gleann na hEorna, Tallaght

We also have our Library in The Restaurant in Gleann na hEorna where an enormous display of books, CD’s and DVD’s are free to all; although you have to return them once you are finished!

Weekly Coffee Morning

All of our tenants and our neighbours are more than welcome to pop in every Thursday at 11 am for a cup of coffee, a bit of banter and you might even get a chocolate biscuit.

The Community Foundation – Older Persons Fund

A grant was given for information sessions and clinics, which were organised by the Housing Officer, for the older people in Gleann na hEorna in respect of advocacy, awareness of rights, awareness of fire safety, the roles of the Citizens Information Bureau and MABS.

Easter & Spring Clean in Gleann na hEorna

Spring was in the air in April 2019 when the whole estate got together and completed a Spring Clean on the exterior of the estate. The tenants pulled up their sleeves and completed a full litter pick of the estate, cleaned up the flower beds and brushed away the winter leaves.

Afterwards there was a revealing of the Tree of Remembrance where some words were spoken about tenants who had unfortunately left us in the previous year and a memory card was hung on the tree to remember them.

We then celebrated with an afternoon tea party for Easter and fun was had by all.

Public Participation Network (PPN) & SDCC Community Grant

A grant under the PPN was given for the purchase of 3 computers, a printer and software for Gleann na hEorna. Classes were given by one of our volunteers to teach tenants computer skills and how to access the internet.
