Our Staff

Saint John of God has recently increased its staff complement to deliver its housing management and housing development services to our tenants. Each of our staff has relevant expertise, professional capacity and previous experience of working in their area of responsibility in commercial and voluntary agencies.

Bernie Cadden – Chief Executive

Bernie has experience working in public and private, state and semi-state companies.  Currently Bernie holds the post of CEO, Saint John of God Housing Association since 2013 and previously held the position of Director of Estates for multiple companies, Director of Services and Administrative Manager in Intellectual Disability Services and Assistant Financial Controller in the private sector as well as being self-employed in the hospitality sector. Bernie has a post graduate qualification in Health Economics Research from Keele University in the UK as well as Bachelors in Health Services Management;  MBA in Health Economics & Management and an accounting qualification.

Kevin Lunny – Planning & Development Manager

Kevin Lunney

Kevin joined the Saint John of God Housing Association in August 2014, having spent ten years in the voluntary housing sector in Ireland. He began his career as National Development Officer with the Irish Council for Social Housing (ICSH) before moving to Newgrove Housing Association, where he had responsibility for the national development programme and the operational aspect of the organisation. Prior to joining Saint John of God Housing Association, Kevin was the Housing Executive with Tinteán, the Carlow Voluntary Housing Association.

Niall O’Shea – Head of Finance

Niall o Shea

Niall, a qualified Chartered Accountant with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from UCD, joined the Saint John of God Housing Association in February 2019. Niall held Finance Director roles in various companies and sectors, which include Medical Devices, Pharmaceuticals, Manufacturing and Electronics in both the UK and Ireland.

Eimear O’Hagan – Housing Officer

Having graduated from University with a BSc Hons in Housing Management and Diploma in Industrial Studies, Eimear worked in private leasing and off-plan sales in the UK. Eimear then came to the Republic of Ireland and worked within both general and special-needs Housing; such as Cluid, The Sue Ryder Foundation and North & East Housing Association. She obtained her ICSH Development Certificate whilst she continued to work in housing development, regeneration and housing management roles.

Alan Balmaine – Development Officer

Having qualified from Bolton Street College of Technology (DIT) in Land Surveying, Alan started his career in London, followed by a move to Boston and Los Angeles before returning to Ireland. Alan has experience of working in multi-national engineering companies with specific skills in the area of project management, budgetary and safety assessments requiring liaison with architects, engineers, solicitors, the Land Registry (PRA) and local authorities. Alan is also qualified in Building Information Management and is a professional member of the Irish Institute of Surveyors.

Brian Eyre – Development Officer

A high-calibre registered residential property valuation surveyor with many years’ experience in the Irish property market. Brian is a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland, who has extensive experience in project managing a significant number of capital projects.

Declan Corrigan – Estate Caretaker

Declan came to our Housing Association having worked in the photographic industry for almost 30 years. In that time, he managed what was then the largest commercial photographic studio and laboratory in Ireland. From that experience, he gained knowledge and practical experience of machine and building maintenance and the responsibilities around managing a large facility. He currently looks after our facilities at Tessa House, Block D Gleann na hEorna and at Exchange Hall.

Donna Coulahan – Finance Officer

Prior to joining the Saint John of God Housing Association in November 2017, Donna had been working in finance for 16 years in a number of multinational companies such as Accenture and Whirlpool Corporation. As the Finance Officer with our Housing Association, Donna is responsible for compiling the monthly management accounts and board reports.
