About Us

Saint John of God
Housing Association clg

Background

Established in 1989, the Saint John of God Housing Association is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee. It is an Approved Housing Body (AHB) since the 1970’s and in 1992, it was given Approved Voluntary Housing Status by the Department of Environment under Section 5 of the Housing Act 1988. Today we are one of the largest housing associations in Ireland with Tier 3 status as defined in ‘Building for the Future’ Voluntary Regulation Code for approved bodies in Ireland. We are members of the Irish Council for Social Housing.

Our tenants, who are taken from the local authority housing waiting list, are people with intellectual disability, older persons and people with mental health problems.  Many come from institutional care and other unsuitable accommodation. Our aim is to achieve a supported-living model of integrated-community housing in partnership with a care provider, such as Saint John of God Community Services.

Our Aim

We aspire to be the leading provider of high quality rental accommodation in the special needs sector in Ireland. We provide and manage secure, affordable homes for people with specific needs, who cannot provide it for themselves. We offer lifetime tenancies in secure accommodation suited to their specific needs. Our more than 400 units of accommodation for people with special needs and for the elderly are spread across counties Dublin, Kerry, Kildare, Louth, Meath & Wicklow.
